Halton Regions First Passive House Project
Halton Region’s first Passive House Certified multi-residential building, which sets a standard for energy efficient building design and the use of sustainable resources. The Seniors Supportive Housing and Community Wellness Hub, at 265 Kerr St., will create 52 new units (22 studio and 30 one-bedroom units) for seniors supportive housing. The building included Passive House Certified triple glazed windows manufactured locally and supplied by Inline Fiberglass Ltd. The final air test results achieved 0.24ACH surpassing the requirement of 0.6ACH.
Achieve Passive House Certification
Building a Sustainable Future
To attain Passive House certification, a building must comply with rigorous performance standards related to energy demand, envelope airtightness, and thermal comfort. This includes limiting space heating and cooling loads to no more than 15 kWh/m² per year—representing a reduction of approximately 90% compared to conventional construction. Our design approach employs high-performance insulation assemblies and precision air-sealing strategies to minimize thermal losses and infiltration. Triple-glazed, thermally broken fenestration systems further reduce conductive and radiative heat transfer. Additionally, a balanced mechanical ventilation system with high-efficiency heat recovery (≥75%) ensures consistent indoor air quality and humidity control. The outcome is a building with superior occupant comfort, ultra-low operational energy use, and a substantially reduced carbon footprint.
Energy Savings Redefined
Unlocking Cost Efficiency with Passive House Design
At Inline Fiberglass, we understand that energy efficiency is not just a trend—it's a necessity. Our commitment to Passive House design principles ensures that our fiberglass windows and doors contribute to remarkable energy savings, achieving an impressive 80–90% reduction in heating and cooling demands compared to traditional constructions. While the initial investment in high-performance materials may be higher, the long-term benefits are undeniable. As utility costs rise, the energy savings realized through our products will significantly offset those initial expenses. Moreover, Passive House buildings maintain their value over time and require less maintenance, thanks to their durable construction and efficient mechanical systems. Choose Inline Fiberglass for windows and doors that promise lasting performance and cost-effectiveness for decades to come.
